My writer’s group has been together for over a year now. We meet once a week at a local coffee shop to work, and catch up. We call it a working session. My critique group consists of published/unpublished author with the same goal in mind; to make our work better.
I completed my first novel in this group, creating my own deadlines each week. There is consistantly 3-4 of us. I am in the process of writing a children’s novel. One I enjoy writing. One that takes on a life of it’s own. I love my main character. She’s a strong girl that was forced to grow up . . . fast.
Samantha, or Sam for short, is a red haired, freckled face 13 year old. Her growing up years were spent with her dad. Her mom passed away when she was 3. Sam enjoys adventures, especially ones that involve old haunted houses. Her best friend, Hannah, loves an adventure, but seems a bit skittish when things don’t “feel” right.
My completion date for this novel is set for September 1, 2009.
My new critique group will see me through this process. My writer’s group will help with keeping me accountable.
Here’s to writing . . .
